Hoodia Gordonii Side Effects - What You Should Know Before Taking This Weight Loss Product

Hoodia Gordonii has become immensely popular diet pills now a days. It gains a lot of followers in just a short period of time because its manufacturer was able to convince the public that hoodia gordonii has no side effects or whatever even though there’s no sufficient study to prove this claim.

The marketers of this diet pill always boasted to its detractors that this is safe to use because that plants where its main component has been extracted out was used by San Bushmen, a tribe from Kahari dessert in Africa, for thousand of years.

However, those that patronize this pill have failed to figure out that this slimming product has not been around for a long period of time if you compare it to Chinese herbal medicines that have their medical study to back them up. It is still too early to say that this diet pill is very safe since it has not been subjected to any safety examination that would truly uncover any of its possible side effects, drug interaction or any safety concern.

Furthermore, there were reports that although this slimming product could actually suppress one’s appetite, there were some signs of its unwanted effects to the liver of those who take this pill since one of its main component, the p57 could not easily be removed during the procedure.

So, if it is true that this product has possible bad effects to the liver, therefore the public should be cautious in using this especially if one is also taking other medications. For instance, a person with diabetes should be wary in using this product. Why? One of the things that this slimming tablet does is that it tricks the brain into thinking that it has enough blood sugar. Without right feedback directive, there’s possibility that a person’s blood sugar would suddenly drop off which could put the person with diabetes into a life threatening situation.

Hoodia Gordonii can help you lose your weight. Might be or it might be. But the most important thing the public should do is that all people should be very vigilant in finding out more about hoodia gordonii’s side effects. After all, taking this pill could jeopardize one’s health.

Hoodia H57 Side Effects - What’s going on?

Let’s take a close look at the possible side effects this seemingly magical weight loss supplement.

Hoodia has been used by the Bushman of South Africa to suppress appetite while on long hunting trips for centuries. However they use the unrefined cactus type plant raw, while we use a refined version. They also use it sparingly, not as an every day supplement for weight control.

Hoodia Side Effects include a potentially unwanted effect on the liver caused by the active ingredient p57. The biggest problem with this is that the effect of the p57 ingredient on the liver may interact in a negative way with other prescription drugs. Medical problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, depression, and other diseases, may require medications that interact unfavorably with Hoodia.

Pfizer bought the licencing rights to the drug to develop it for 21 million, but later returned rights. Jasjit S. Bindra, PhD, stated in a letter to the New York Times although hoodia did appear to suppress appetite, there were indications of unwanted effects on the liver caused by components other than the active ingredient p57 that could not easily be removed during processing.

He added “Clearly, hoodia has a long way to go before it can earn approval from the Food and Drug Administration. Until safer formulations are developed, dieters should be wary of using it”

Dieting is not an easy thing to do for sure, but sometimes the magic pill isn’t the best option. It’s probably better to do it the old fashion way, change your eating habits and start exercising.

Before ever making dramatic changes to your diet, always consult a doctor.
